Today being Jan 27, 2015 I should be thinking about my return to Africa and the continuation of my eye opening trip. As fate will have it my trusty truck “Godzilla” has been “sold” by the owner of JAKES 4X4 LandRover facility, where I left the truck in storage. Over the last few months I have come to know that the company has gone the way of the dodo and to dig himself out of a financial hole this Einstein decided to sell my truck without the ownership documents. He found a buyer dumb enough to actually pay him for the car with only the copy of the ownership I had left in the glove box. Via the 4×4 Forum I have been able to track down the guy who is now in possesion of the truck but without the ownership documents. The Toyota is still legally in my name; the police will have to get involved to retrieve Godzilla to its rightful owner. Life goes on…..

The End of the Road… For now!
If you want to make headway into the wind today, you have to walk at a 30-degree angle. The wind is gradually picking up creating some monster waves. Not going out to sea seems like a very good call now. My room faces the ocean and I cannot imagine being caught out in this type if severe weather. In the morning the only thing I could do was to visit a bird sanctuary while the weather was still reasonable. Most of the day the sun stayed out but now the rain has come down in buckets making the storm seem even more severe. The whales are only here part of the year but the sharks are in these waters year around, which means I can pick up where I left off in March 2015. Tomorrow I will head to Somerset to meet up with Chris for dinner and watch the quarter final game between Holland and Costa Rica. The owner of the storage place will give me a ride to the Cape Town airport Sunday morning AND will pick me up again end March. Cape Town to Jo’burg is less than 2 hours flying, with a 3-hour stopover before taking off for Amsterdam. The 1st few weeks seemed like an eternity and now, all of a sudden; poof! 9500 km through Africa later, it’s over. It seems like I learned a lot about this part of the world but of course I did not even scratch the surface. Other countries and places I have visited have usually been comparable to another place. Not so with Africa. It is simply unique, for better or for worse. Mozambique, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia are calling 9 months from now. I can’t wait! To be continued………
