Two-wheeled- tourist

The quintessential Dutch thing to do, especially with a bum ankle, is to ride a bike around. There are more than 13 million bicycles in Holland and a population of 16.5 million with17,000 km of bicycle paths.  Modern Schiedam consist mostly of matchbox stacked flats but the old city still has its charm.

To my surprise the Olifants Steeg (Elephants Lane) was void of any tuskers

In a park en route I came across a farm for children where I thought to fine tune my wild life photography skills.

Schiedam, Holland

The fresh air upon arrival was a pleasant change from the blanket of humidity in Bangkok. Looking out the window before landing everything looks quaint and orderly compared to the Orient. Although she had been to a funeral all day with a 500 km drive back & forth, I found my 94-year-old mom in good spirits in Schiedam and as spritely as ever. We are so lucky to still have her around. She has a spring in her step even at this age and I get reprimanded for walking too slow beside her when we go shopping for groceries. It gives all of us getting older a sprinkle of hope
